McCullough, MD, MPH - Interpreting Damar Hamlin's Sudden Collapse - Three studies of commotio cordis—one published in 2002, another one published in 2009 and another one published in 2022 are worth reading in full. These studies indicate it is a complex phenomenon. A Google search of the words “football player commotio cordis” between the years 1970 and 2022 yielded ONE 2011 report of a junior varsity football player in Massachusetts who suffered from commotio cordis.... So far, I (Dr. McCullough) have been unable to find any documented cases that have occurred in the NFL. This suggests that the age of NFL players and the protective padding over their hearts result in a lower incidence of commotio cordis than the incidence documented in sports such as baseball, in which players’ chests are exposed to a projectile. In the final analysis, only a thorough physical examination of Damar Hamlin’s heart can determine what caused his sudden collapse.

January 4, 2023 - Substack Jennifer Brown - What happened on Monday Night Football? - As we all know, they performed CPR for 9 minutes, deployed the AED to defibrillate his heart, and he was taken away in the ambulance... He is 24 years old, peak health and physical condition. Let me be very clear here: NONE of us outside of the medical team treating him know what happened. But the narrative they are putting out is certainly one with some damage control behind it... Within an hour of the incident happening, Twitter doctors and ESPN immediately began saying “this was commodio cordis”... NOT saying it wasn’t CC……but that is not the first line answer you look at here assuming normal heart health. Sudden cardiac arrest can come from spontaneous VTACH rhythm, blood clot, aneurysm rupture, etc. The differential diagnosis list here is big. Why did ESPN and twitter docs instantly jump to commodio cordis within an hour of his sudden cardiac arrest?...Tuesday evening, Demar’s uncle gave a public statement for the family that Demar “had to be revived 2 times”. This adds way more speculation that this was not commotio cordis. Once he was shocked back into rhythm, if it was a true fluke hard hit at the right portion of the cardiac cycle, he would have sustained a normal rhythm from that shock and not coded again... Dr. McCullough said what many people are thinking. There needs to be a differential diagnosis list to determine what happened here. Including the elephant in the room that no one wants to discuss: was Mr. Hamlin covid vaccinated? Did he have asymptomatic cardiac issues due to his vaccine? We have discussed previously what causes Sudden Death (which is what happened to Hamlin on Monday night, sudden death that required 9 minutes of CPR to revive him). It tends to happen in the vaccinated when catecholamines are released during sleep when preparing the body to wake up in the morning, and it happens when people are exercising and exerting their heart. This is exactly the angle that Dr. McCullough is suggesting needs to be, at the very least, considered here...The Buffalo Bills team is 100% vaccinated (per NFL.com) and the Bills required vaccines for all spectators to watch their games in person in their stadium...I (Jennifer Brown) wonder what players from various teams are thinking today after watching that horrific incident on the field on Monday night. I would imagine the phone lines are in a frenzy discussing the what’s/why’s/what do we do now. What are coaches thinking? What are players agents thinking? Team owners? Somewhere deep in the recesses of the brain where none of them want to go, there has to be a flicker of “was it the vaccine that did this?”...This website already acknowledges that more than 700 athletes have collapsed in the last year due to cardiac issues. January 7, 2023 - Substack Steve Kirsch - If the Buffalo Bills Want to Know if Any of Their Players are Vaccine Injured, it's easy to do so with Heart Care Corp - There is a company, HeartCare Corp, that makes a machine that looks like an EKG, but can detect a wide variety of heart damage, including myocarditis. They can assess their team in a day. THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THIS IDEA: 1. The players won't want to know because it could sideline them permanently. 2. The management won't want to know because it would mean that they were responsible and therefore possibly liable. HOWEVER! If the NFL really cared about their players and the general public who also took these shots, they could just do a screening, notify the individual players of their results, and make the aggregate statistics known to the public as a public service. Sounds fair to me! At this point the more people we can save by making them aware of any damage the better!

January 27, 2023 - FDA Advisers Vote to Replace Original COVID Vaccine with Bivalent Boosters Despite Lack of Clinical Trial Data Moderna, Pfizer, Novavax, the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) gave presentations on the viability of annual boosters but presented only limited data on the duration of protection offered by the vaccines. “They assiduously avoided discussion of how long a shot might offer protection — instead the briefers cited studies of efficacy for only 2-3 months after receiving a vaccine,” Nass said. She added: “If it gives three months of protection, what happens after that? They failed to show the graphs, which have been made by CDC, showing negative efficacy after about six months.” The FDA said it expects to assess the evolution of COVID-19 annually to determine which strains to vaccinate for, a process they likened to the one followed for the flu vaccine. But several committee members repeatedly noted, agreeing with committee member Dr. Pamela McInnes, that “COVID is not the flu.” Vaccine makers would update the annual shot through a process that would begin each spring to try to match the vaccine as closely as possible to whatever variant is predicted to be dominant in the coming winter, according to a framework proposed at the April 6, 2022, VRBPAC meeting.

The current vaccines are not infection-blocking. They’re not broad, so when new variants come up you lose protection, and they have very short duration, particularly in the people who matter, which are old people.” Such statements came as a surprise to some in light of Gates’ longstanding support of — and investments in — vaccine manufacturers and organizations promoting global vaccination. However, they were the latest in a string of developments in recent weeks that have increasingly called the COVID-19 vaccines, in particular, into question.
