Today’s Saint, Robert Bellarmine was born in 1542 in the town of Monte Pulciano in Tuscany. He entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and was elected to the College of Cardinals and named bishop of Capua. He died September 17, 1621, was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1930, and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1931. He is the patron saint of catechists.
