The Annunciation of the Lord - March 26

Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord

When March 25^th falls on a Sunday, as it does this year, the Solemnity of the Annunciation is celebrated the following day, March 26^th.   

"The Annunciation heralds the beginning of our salvation.  By Mary's obedient "Fiat," the earth has become heaven.  "In Jesus, God has placed, in the midst of barren, despairing mankind, a new beginning, which is not a product of human history but at gift from above." (Pope Benedict XVI)
