Day 40
Judges 9 - 12
Bible Time Period: Conquest and Judges
You led Israel triumphantly into the Promised Land. They failed to teach their children, and instead did what was right in their own eyes: Help me to keep my eyes on you and teach others what is truly right.
Prayer
Lord God, It has been said that in a democracy we get the leaders we deserve. In the era of the Judges, as in our modern age, people can be deceived by leaders who make promises not based on righteousness but on their personal agendas. Send us righteous leaders, Lord, and give us the wisdom to recognize the men and women who wear the mask of humility when their hearts are full of deceit. Send us righteous judges who can determine justice based on more than the capricious laws of modern society, and send us men and women who are willing to take on those responsibilities without the ambition to further their own wealth or prestige. We pray in the name of God the Father, the Son , and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
