Day 55
2 Samuel 17 - 20
Bible Time Period: Royal Kingdom
You established a kingdom on your servant David and promised him an eternal throne: Establish your kingdom in our midst.
Reflection
Before David's adulterous affair with Bathsheba, his reign had been an unmitigated triumph. The rest of the history of his reign, however, consists of a string of rebellions and betrayals.
Yet David remained the pattern for the divinely instituted monarchy. He sinned deeply, but he never turned away from God.
