Saint Helena - August 18 (Mother of Constantine)

Helena,  mother of the emperor Constantine, was born in Bithynia, an ancient region of Asia Minor, around 250.  Around 312 she converted to Christianity.  During a pilgrimage to the Holy Land she is said to have found the cross of Christ and ordered construction of the Church of the Nativity and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.  She died in 330.
